I Android može da se zaraziKaspersky Lab tvrdi da je sve više malvera za Android i da se broj novih ovakvih programa skoro utrostručio u drugom kvartalu 2012. godine. Kako piše u izveštaju Kaspersky Lab-a, više od 14. 900 novih zlonamernih programa je otkriveno u datom periodu, a 49% ovih programa bili su multifunkcionalni virusi Trojan, koji kradu podatke iz telefona i u stanju su da preuzmu dodatne module sa servera kojima upravljaju zlonamerni korisnici. Četvrtina pronađenih Android virusa napravljeno je od SMS virusa Trojan, dok 18 procenata čine backdoor programi koji omogućavaju korisnicima virusa da preuzmu totalnu kontrolu nad zaraženim uređajem. Prema istom izveštaju, Trojan Spy programi čine samo dva odsto od ukupnog broja otkrivenih zlonamernih programa. Oni čine i najveću pretnju, jer preuzimaju najvrednije podatke i omogućavaju njihovim korisnicima da pristupe tuđim bankovnim računima. Jurij Namestnikov, viši analiticar za viruse u Kaspersky Lab-u kaže: "U bliskoj budućnosti možemo očekivati ne samo više zlonamernih programa, već i još efikasnijih i opasnijih virusa koji ciljaju Android platformu. Prema postojećim trendovima, treba očekivati da će napadi sajber kriminalaca postati ličniji. To se pre svega odnosi na viruse koji love poverljive podatke i kradu novac sa kreditnih kartica".
